Bruxism is involuntary clenching and grinding of the teeth, mostly during sleep and often unnoticed. Stress, anxiety and bite problems are the most common causes. Morning jaw fatigue, headaches and tooth wear are typical signs.
A custom night guard is the first line of treatment; if the jaw joint is affected, TMJ therapy may also be needed. Worn teeth are repaired with restorative methods.
