Enamel is the protective layer covering the visible part of the tooth and the hardest tissue in the body. It cannot regenerate; acidic drinks, hard brushing and grinding can wear it irreversibly.
Enamel loss shows as sensitivity and discoloration. Fluoride applications strengthen enamel; advanced loss requires restorative treatment.
